Sen. Lee supported doubling the Child Tax Credit in 2017 to $2,000 per child. As part of the American Rescue Plan, most Utah families will receive a $3,000 or $3,600 tax credit for each child this year. Senator Romney has proposed making this temporarily larger (and monthly) child tax credit permanent in a deficit-neutral manner.

Low- and middle-income Utah families stand to receive $1.45 billion in tax relief, impacting 88% of Utah’s children and cutting Utah child poverty in half, from nearly 100,000 children to about 50,000. If we can win Senator Lee’s support, the expansion of the Child Tax Credit will pass through Congress.
