Dear Mayor Durkan,
It is more clear than ever that you refuse to do the right thing and defund the Seattle Police department in response to community demands. Your proposed $20 million budget cuts to the Seattle Police Department is nowhere near appropriate, respectful, or effective in response to the current crises facing our city. Meanwhile you would rather cut spending on libraries, preschool, transit, and parks to balance the budget than cut SPD spending according to community demands.
We reject your politics of violence.
We demand that you defund the Seattle Police Department by at least 50%, $200 million, and reinvest these funds into BIPOC communities and community-based solutions. Now is not the time to protect the police budget. Our communities, particularly our Black and brown communities, are not safe from police brutality unless you do so. If you are unwilling, please resign because we need a mayor who listens to the community.

Mayor Durkan,
It is extremely disappointing to see you allow the use of force on clearing CHOP today. It is clear that you do not care about those in your community who are asking that you do better by them. That is why I am calling for your resignation.
You have proven that more clear than ever that you refuse to do the right thing and defund the Seattle Police department in response to community demands. Your proposed $20 million budget cuts to the Seattle Police Department is nowhere near appropriate, respectful, or effective in response to the current crises facing our city. What shameful behavior. The residents of Seattle deserve better.
We reject your politics of violence and the upholding of the status quo. YOUR QUEERNESS DOES NOT ABSOLVE YOU OF YOUR RACIST BEHAVIOR.
We demand that you resign, defund the Seattle Police Department by at least 50%, $200 million, and reinvest these funds into BIPOC communities and community-based solutions.
Now is the time to re-invest in our communities, not ignore them and then use violence against them. Our communities, particularly our Black and brown communities, are not safe from police brutality which you are aware of and do not care about. Resign because we need a mayor who listens to the community.

Dear Mayor Durkan,
I moved to this city mid March, i knew things would be rough due to the pandemic but i expected so much more from this city in times of distress. i came here, scared, and when worldwide protesting began you continued to gas your citizens for 11 days straight less than a mile from my beloved new home. the effects of your actions are TRAUMATIZING your residents, all we want is for peace, why do black lives matter so little to you? how did it come to all of this?
