Support Manitoba Hydro Workers

Members of IBEW 2034 employed by Manitoba Hydro work daily to keep your power going. For the past year they have been on the front-lines risking their health while serving the public during the COVID-19 pandemic. In October 2019, it was IBEW 2034 members who spent over 35 days restoring power and ensuring our safety during the province’s harshest ice storm in history.

Now, the Pallister Government is interfering with the collective bargaining process between Manitoba Hydro and IBEW 2034, refusing all reasonable attempts at resolving negotiations, including referral to arbitration.

IBEW 2034 members employed by Manitoba Hydro have been without a contract since December 31, 2018. Despite this, IBEW members have provided outstanding service keeping and restoring power to our homes and communities despite the hardships imposed by COVID-19 and record breaking winter ice storms.
 
Seeking wage parity with other groups, asking for some form of COVID-19 recognition for being front-line workers who do not have the luxury of working from home, and seeking referral to arbitration to settle the agreement are not excessive or outlandish demands.
 
I urge you to cease interfering in Hydro/IBEW negotiations and to allow the parties to reach a mutually fair agreement.
