The tragic passing of Dr. Paul Farmer in February 2022 has devastated the millions of people he inspired.

Dr. Farmer’s vision and lifelong commitment to delivering high-quality health care in impoverished settings revolutionized global health, inspiring the creation of lifesaving programs like PEPFAR and the Global Fund.

At the core of Dr. Farmer’s vision was the belief that the 13 million medically preventable deaths we experience worldwide can be addressed by investing in the staff, stuff, space, systems, and social support necessary to provide high quality care. This could be accomplished by drastically upscaling U.S investment in global health, and taking accountability for historic and ongoing injustices.

The Paul Farmer Memorial Resolution honors Dr. Farmer by enshrining his vision for global health equity, and providing practical policy solutions to make it a reality.
