Rep. Pramila Jayapal's bill, H.R.1384 - Medicare for All Act of 2019, will transition the United States to a single-payer health care system, one in which a single, government-run health plan provides insurance coverage to all Americans.
As Rep. Jayapal states, “We mean universal care, everybody in, nobody out.” Jayapal’s bill envisions a future where all Americans have health coverage. The legislation will also save Americans money while making sure everybody has healthcare.
The legislation has 119 sponsors and co-sponsors; over half of the Democratic Caucus in the House of Representatives support Medicare for all.
