LET ALBANY KNOW ALL PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS DESERVE ACCESS TO PROGRAMS AND AN INCREASE IN SCHOOL FUNDING

The Executive Budget and the Senate and Assembly one-house budget proposals will give all school districts a minimum 3% increase in Foundation Aid – even districts that already receive their fully-funded share of Foundation Aid.

Meanwhile…public charter school students residing in districts such as Rochester, Syracuse, Mt. Vernon, Elmira, and more will not be given the same safety net increase! This is more of Albany’s unfair treatment of charter school students. Let them know all public charter school students deserve an increase in school funding. The state budget should include a 3% minimum increase for public charter schools as is proposed for Foundation Aid for school districts.

Public charter school students residing in the following districts are projected to be impacted (more districts may be impacted based on final calculations):

-Elmira City School District
-Greece City School District
-Ithaca City School District
-Lackawanna City School District
-Mount Vernon City School District
-Niagara-Wheatfield City School District
-Niagara Falls City School District
-Rochester City School District
-Roosevelt Unified School District
-Syracuse City School District
-Troy City School District

Also, charter school students are not eligible to participate in programs like My Brother's Keeper, BOCES, school-based trauma mitigation, and pre-K, to name a few. These programs should be accessible to ALL PUBLIC school children. No child deserves to be treated unfairly, especially when it comes to their education.
