Tell Congress: Condemn Israel’s military invasion of Jenin

What we saw this past weekend — Israel bombing Palestinians in Jenin — should spur us all to action. We’re funding the bombing of a refugee camp. Let that sink in.

Those who represent us in Congress should call for accountability and to withhold military aid to Israel. At the very minimum Congress should condemn the horrific violence.

The Jenin attack is a frightening escalation of Israel's military violence: the largest invasion of a Palestinian city in over 20 years.

I write as a constituent to ask that you urgently and publicly condemn the Israeli government’s military invasion of Jenin and Jenin refugee camp and to co-sponsor Rep. McCollum's re-introduced bill HR 3103, Defending the Human Rights of Palestinian Children and Families Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act, if you have not already.

On Monday, July 3, the Israeli military launched an invasion by air and ground of the densely populated Palestinian city of Jenin and the crowded Jenin refugee camp. Since then, the military killed 12 Palestinians, including 5 teenagers, and damaged 80% of Palestinian homes in the area. In the days following, reports from emergency responders, human rights organizations, and media show that the military prevented ambulances from reaching the injured, damaged the infrastructure and interrupted Jenin's water and electricity supplies, ripped up roads, and attacked journalists. They also attacked Jenin hospital with patients and doctors inside.

The Israeli government is acting in blatant disregard for international humanitarian and human rights law, and carrying out war crimes before the eyes of the world.

Members of Congress must immediately condemn the government’s actions and should take steps to hold the Israeli government accountable for its systematic violation of Palestinian human rights by becoming a co-sponsor of H.R. 3103.
