As a constituent, I’m writing to urge you to support a budget that will invest in utility accountability, energy efficiency, electric vehicles, housing retrofits, and public transportation. 

Governor Whitmer’s outlined priorities include fully funding the Michigan Public Service Commission and allocating millions of dollars for clean mobility programs. These are all great ideas that are necessary for Michigan’s growth. 

I also believe that we must expand upon those priorities to include investments in public transportation. Michigan families need to be able to get to work, doctor’s offices, grocery stores, and everywhere else they need to go, even if they don’t drive. We must also invest in housing retrofit programs to make our aging housing stock more affordable, healthy, and comfortable, and to reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions. 

It is imperative to ensure that we have the necessary resources to implement these programs effectively, creating job opportunities, reducing utility bills, and protecting our Great Lakes.

Please support these important investments and work towards a comprehensive budget that addresses the diverse needs of our communities. By doing so, we can continue to set an example for the nation in sustainable and equitable development.
