End Hunger in the Classroom

2.5 million children in the UK are at risk of starting the day too hungry to learn. We believe that every child deserves access to a healthy, filling breakfast, starting the day ready to learn.

The rising cost of living is pushing more families into poverty. As Magic Breakfast Youth Campaigners, we've seen how hunger harms children. We want the best learning, health and life chances for every child.

It doesn't need to be this way. With the right help at the start of the school day, free school breakfast is already boosting hundreds of thousands of children's learning, health and future prospects.

Yet only one in four of the schools in the most disadvantaged areas gets the Government funding needed to offer this vital support to children.

We are asking the Prime Minister to boost spending on school breakfast by £75m a year. This will ensure up to 893,000 children in areas of high disadvantage will get a free school breakfast.

This won’t cost the taxpayer a penny. It could be raised by an existing tax on sugary drinks.

With the price of food rising and many children catching up still from Covid. Prime Minister Boris Johnson must act now to secure the future of children and young people.
