Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is a seditious, hateful, QAnon-supporting, racist, Islamophobic, anti-Semitic congresswoman and she deserves to be expelled from the House of Representatives.
As reported widely over the last few weeks, “[Greene] advanced baseless claims about voter fraud during the 2020 election, has referred to multiple mass shootings as ‘false flag operations,’ has shared her racist, Islamophobic, and anti-Semitic views online, and has shown her support on Facebook for executing prominent Democratic politicians.” In March 2019, she harassed Parkland survivor David Hogg, calling him a “coward.” And just this week, freshman Representative Cori Bush (D-MO) was forced to move offices away from Greene’s for her team’s safety after Greene berated Bush and her staff in a hallway.
For the most part, Republicans in her Caucus have remained silent.
On Wednesday, January 27th, Representative Jimmy Gomez (D-CA) announced that he will introduce a resolution to expel Greene from Congress, a vote that would require a two-thirds majority, or 70 Republican votes, to pass. As Rep. Gomez wrote to colleagues, “Congresswoman Green’s misconduct has...endangered the lives of her colleagues and fellow members of Congress. She has broken her oath to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies and as such is unworthy of the high position of honor and trust reposed in the office.”
While we support expulsion and other consequences for additional Members who have broken their oaths, including Members who helped plan or supported the insurrection on January 6th, this is an important step forward toward accountability and restoring the integrity of Congress.
Email your representative now— Democrat or Republican— and demand that they cosponsor Rep. Jimmy Gomez’s resolution to expel Marjorie Taylor Greene and vote to expel when it comes to the floor. There’s no place for her brand of extremism in our nation’s Capitol.
