As your constituent, I'm writing to urge you to support the Farm System Reform Act. The FSRA represents a light at the end of the tunnel for struggling farmers, and a future where farmers are at the center of a farm system that values and benefits people, the environment and animals alike.

The Farm System Reform Act encourages sustainable farming methods and ensures a level playing field for all farmers and ranchers by:

-Providing voluntary debt forgiveness and a transition assistance program for farmers wanting to transition out of operating a CAFO into other agriculture activities on their property, such as raising pasture-based livestock, growing specialty crops, or organic commodity production
-Phasing out the largest CAFOs by 2040
-Holding corporate integrators responsible for pollution and other harm caused by CAFOs, rather than farmers, taxpayers, and consumers
-Strengthening the Packers & Stockyards Act (anti-trust law) to crack down on monopolistic practices of multi-national meatpackers and corporate integrators
-Prohibiting the USDA from labeling foreign imported meat products as “Product of USA.”

Please support the real farmers of Indiana and all across the country by supporting this legislation to phase out polluting, monopolistic CAFOs.
