Ontarians Can't Stay Afloat
One million Ontarians visited a food bank last year.
The cost of living, especially housing and food, has spiked. Our social safety nets have been eroded. Work has become more precarious. People can't keep their heads above water financially, and so are turning to a food bank in record numbers.
Ontario is entering its final year of its Poverty Reduction Strategy next year, yet the number of people living in poverty continues to skyrocket across the province. We call on the Government of Ontario to develop a more robust poverty reduction strategy moving forward, to ensure those who are struggling in Ontario can access a basic standard of living.
