Making Alberta the Friendliest Province for Co-operatives

Alberta has long been a province that advertises its business-friendly environment and low regulatory framework. Yet, our province has failed co-operatives in both these aspects.

Attracting additional investment or starting a new co-operative should not cost 8% of the total investment to navigate the regulations set out by the Alberta government.

Co-operatives are a self-help business model that enables local communities to save local businesses yet the regulations are preventing Albertans from implementing this model.

We are asking co-operative members to sign this letter to request the regulations be lowered to match the best practices in neighboring jurisdictions.

Not only would this change allow for existing co-operatives to attract more investment, but it would lower the cost to start a new co-operative business by a substantial amount.

By sending this email, you are helping new and existing co-operatives to grow and prosper.

Thank you for your support.
