In August, we shared our petition calling for Lt. Scott Rowell — one of the Waycross cops who opened fired on a group of Black children — to be removed from the police force. Unfortunately, our fight for justice isn't over.
Rowell — who was also involved in the murder of an unarmed Black man named Jack Lamar Roberson in 2013 — can still carry a gun and police badge in the state of Georgia.
We have to make sure Scott Rowell can’t join the police department one town over or continue terrorizing Black people in Georgia. To make that happen, his police certification must be revoked IMMEDIATELY.
That's why we're demanding that the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council (P.O.S.T) revokes Rowell's police certification immediately and ban him from joining a police department anywhere in the state of Georgia.
