This Friday, July 2, Minneapolis City Council will review Mayor Jacob Frey’s proposed allocation of $281 million in federal COVID relief funding in Minneapolis. City officials need to hear from community NOW.

Jacob Frey wants to give over 5.6 million dollars to MPD to surveil, harass, and brutalize Black folks and young people in Minneapolis. His proposal calls for more funds for overtime, more cops on the streets, and more surveillance — threatening Black communities. 

We're standing with Reclaim The Block to demand City Council reject Frey's proposal to give MPD $5 million. Call City Council NOW: “No new money for MPD!”

• MPD doesn’t need COVID relief money — our community does.
• We know the challenges our communities, especially youth, have faced during this pandemic. And we know the threat MPD poses to Black people. 
• $5.6 million dollars for cops is more than the amount allocated to public health services, and more than double the amount allocated for supportive youth services.
• Instead of spending COVID relief dollars on increased surveillance and policing of youth, Minneapolis should put that money into underfunded services that help build community and improve mental health for youth — real needs research shows can be met.
